The Algarve region

The Algarve, situated in the south of Portugal, is an ideal location for a wonderful holiday for all ages. It offers practically year round sunshine and boasts some of Europe's best golf courses. There are numerous beaches many of them tucked away in secluded parts of the coast line. A drive inland will uncover lovely little hidden villages and restaurants serving their speciality dish of the Algarve "Chicken Piri Piri"!! A visit to the Monchique Mountains with its own spring water is a must to appreciate the beautiful landscape of the Algarve.

Vilamoura area

Vilamoura is the tourist resort par excellence. The biggest private holiday development in Portugal has golf courses, a wide range of other sports facilities and an incredible marina with a variety of entertainment. From the holidaymaker’s perspective you should know that if there’s something to do, it can be done in Vilamoura.

Nearby, the Vilamoura Casino is not quite up to Las Vegas standards, but you can try your luck on the one-armed bandits or on the more serious gaming tables. The casino restaurant features a nightly floorshow with high-kicking dancers.

Vilamoura is a delight for a gourmet. More than an hundred different options can be found around the Marina to cater for the most challenging of tastes. The variety is so wide that is difficult to choose from the traditional fish, seafood and fine Portuguese cuisine. There is fine dining restaurants as well as the pavement cafes for a more reasonably priced meal. The offer is completed by the Beach restaurants for a lovely day under the sun.

For the shopping lovers this is the ideal place. The colourful shops windows are an invitation difficult to resist. From well known international trade marks to the regional and rustic shops, you can always finds the right gift for a very special person.
For the day by day and long stays, the supermarkets and convenience stores can be quite handy.


Vilamoura is fronted by three kilometres of golden sands. The choice is wide, from quiet, secluded beaches to those frequented by the personalities, artists and sportsmen who spend the summer in the resort. What they all have in common is unrivalled beauty and excellent water quality, as proved by the blue flags they fly.

When not enjoying the wonderful Algarve sunshine or wandering along the shore, more active visitors can stimulate their adrenaline with sports such as windsurfing, water-skiing, jet-skiing and paragliding, or just relax pedalling a pedalo, fishing or enjoying a drink in one of the many restaurants and bars along the beachfront.

Falesia beach:  This is the closest beach to our apartment approx 15 minutes walk or alternatively it's 3 minutes in the car. The car park is pay and display by the hour, day or week. They are overhead shades to keep the car cool. From the car park there is easy access for prams and the less able bodied. It has a cabana bar serves snacks and cold drinks. There are changing facilities, toilets and hot running showers which are charged nominally. There is also a shop which sells the usual beach toys and accessories.

Zoomarine:
